Up North...

We just got back from an almost week long vacation "Up North" The Jolly Fisherman on Elbow Lake in Northern Waubun MN. The trip was about a 6-7hr drive, and since lil Rue bug doesn't travel well in the car, we sent Olivia and Max up with Lola and Papa (went up with the Swensons). Nini also met us up there. Nyla did ok in the car, screaming only about a total of 2hrs out of the 7 on the way up, and 3hrs on the way down (we had Olivia and Max on the way down, and Olivia was able to entertain Nyla some and towards the end of the trip we were all delirious and giddy. http://s120.photobucket.com/albums/o170/mamakat7/kids%20video/?action=view&current=Picture702.flv

We got there on one of the hottest days of the vacation, the next day was beautiful. Warm, sunny and hot enough to hit up the beach. The following days were rain and cold, so lots of hot cocoa and tea were a staple.

Ian did lots of fishing and is now determined that he's a "Bass Pro", Olivia and Max even enjoyed fishing too (as they cast their SpongeBob's into the water with their utmost agility...they were actually casting really well reaching 20-30 ft from the dock! and catching all kinds of lake weeds). We took Olivia and Max out on the boat ride, while Nyla napped. Max was a bit apprehensive about it all and Olivia of course was thrilled!

The kids fell in love with Rosco, Otter and Hooty some of the Resort's loved dogs, and of course the dogs fell in love with the Swenson's cabin, since there was always goodies to be tossed out the screen door for them to scarf down.
